Example blog: Student-created content for high school English class
While not a foreign language class blog, this blog is being used by an English teacher to motivate her students to write. The teacher reports that blogging is very motivating for her students because it gives them an audience for their writing and so they feel like they have a truly authentic purpose.
Example blog: Student-created place-based blog
This blog is a nice example of a "place-based blog" in which students investigate a particular place (e.g., their own city or neighborhood) and put the results up on a blog. While this format has primarily been used to encourage students to explore and learn to appreciate the place in which they live, in the FL context this type of blog could be used to investigate and post content about a city from a target language country.
Compilation of Web 2.0 Tools
Not only a blog, this French teacher's website is chock full of Web 2.0 tools. Take a look around the site, but be sure to check out her blog and the VoiceThread activity on the homepage.
